Final Fantasy VI (formerly known as III) for iOS and Android has been announced by Square Enix and will be released sometime during this winter.
Final Fantasy VI (previously known as Final Fantasy III in the North American market) is considered one of the greatest video games of all time and the SNES and PlayStation versions have almost 3.5 million copies worldwide since its release in 1994. Now, Square Enix has announced that the game is in the progress of being ported and released on the iOS and Android systems (sorry Windows Phone)!
The exact release date has not been set, but the game will be available sometime during this winter. The game will also feature improvements in graphics and the combat system. For the latter, apparently, the number of battles will be decreased somewhat.
It appears that most classic console games are at some point being ported to the smartphone operating systems. For example, Chrono Trigger, and the previous Final Fantasy I to V are already available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. This is excellent news for those that want to re-experience the game without having to brush up their old consoles or mess around with emulators!
